Testimonials
Randy Burgener: Thanks Mike!! I have been 'Buying & Selling' houses for 'Decades'... I am a 60 year old Civil / Architectural Engineer (Structural) and have never had such GREAT Support and Advise! I have mainly bought, remodeled and sold existing houses my entire life: I really could not 'fit' into an 'A & E Firm'!! In the larger projects, I never really became that 'HANDS ON' involved... NOW, we are scaling back... and I am enjoying doing Much myself... at least, It is Done RIGHT the First Time....... OR I know whom to blame!! I shall Recommend you whomever I CAN! THANKS Mike!
George: Last night I purchased your "How To" apply orange peel texture. Today, I completed my entire hurricane -damaged home in about four hours. I am very pleased. I spent hours and hours on the Internet looking for simple, no BS instructions on how to use my new hopper gun and achieve a good-looking result. Your advice and instructions were exactly what I was looking for, and it saved me about $1700 dollars from the quotes I was getting down here from the contractors (these guys are really taking advantage of the hurricane damaged area.) Also, I found that using regular pre-mixed drywall compound, and thinning it with water to about the consistency of thick paint worked the best. The texture must be able to flow freely into the hopper opening. Your advice to hook up an air valve to the hopper gun was a good one. It is much easier to adjust air flow from the hopper than from the compressor. Anyway, I am very happy, and it was the best ten dollars I have ever spent. Thanks again, George Zaleuke- Sebastian, FL
Kevin: Just giving you an update. I did the knockdown & orange peel technique this weekend. It went very well. Did orange peel on the ceiling and knockdown on the walls. I did the entire first floor of my house on Saturday then painted on Sunday. Walls & ceiling look beautiful thanks for the tips. Your web site was well worth the 10 bucs to get in. Just wish I would of found it a couple of months ago when I was doing the drywall.... Anyways, It's all the little tricks of the trade that make a job go fast and good. Your tips were right on. Thanks Kevin J Hurst, CombineNet
I purchased the knockdown & orange peel tips. Thanks! for saving me time and money trying to learn it the hard way. Your other tips are right on the money too! Larry Bloom, President North Shore Painting (since 1985)
Jack wrote: I have to say your idea for offering these tips online is a rather good idea. I spent $20+ on drywall books in search of this information. Your page told me exactly what I needed to do for a fraction of the cost and a fraction of my time ! Great for Do-It-Yourself People.
Jeff wrote: I had my first request for a knock-down texture on a bathroom remodel I am currently doing. (I've only done "popcorn texture" in the past). I was looking for info that would take away some of the guesswork and experimenting. Textured the customers ceiling today (after reviewing your instructions). Made all the difference. I often find that the quality of a finished job is directly related to the confidence with which you approach the work -- your instruction helped a great deal in that regard. Thanks!
Mike Cook: Thank you so much. I didn't have any problems, and we really appreciate the help from your web site. It is very well done and informative, yet easy to understand. Again, Thanks for all your help!
Tina Baasch: Thank you Mike. I never dreamed I could do my own drywall textures. Your directions made it so easy. Thanks for taking the extra time to answer my e-mails. Great web site!! Dave Kergolski: We had a quote of $950 to texture the walls and ceilings in our basement. Thanks to your "How To"page, we did it all ourselves in a Saturday morning. The way you explain and simplify everything made it so easy to understand. I want to be a drywall man :o)
Howard Payne: I am a general contractor in northern Ontario Canada. And believe it or not until he other day, I have never had a request for a do a knock-down or orange peel.
